Seven questions · about two minutes
What does cover actually cost for someone like you?
Your age, your state and your waiting periods move the price more than the fund you pick does.

We will tell you if staying put is cheaper
Sometimes the surcharge costs less than the premium. We say so.
We will not sell your details
Your information goes to us and to the funds you ask us to quote. Nobody else.
We will not call you unannounced
You choose email or a call, and you pick the time.
We will show you what is not covered
Exclusions, excess and waiting periods sit next to the price, not in a footnote.
How this works
Three steps, and you can stop at any one of them
You tell us your situation
Age bracket, state, who is covered and what you actually care about being covered for. Seven questions, no typing until the end.
We do the comparison
We check every fund on our panel against your answers, apply your rebate tier, and work out whether the Medicare Levy Surcharge applies to you.
You decide, in your own time
A shortlist with real premiums, excesses and waiting periods. If nothing beats what you already have, we say so and you keep your policy.
What we ask, and why it changes the price
Most comparison forms ask for your details first and your situation second. We do it the other way around, because four of these answers move the premium more than the choice of fund does.
Your age bracket
The Australian Government Rebate is age-tiered: under 65, 65 to 69, and 70 and over. Crossing into the next bracket increases the rebate and lowers what you pay, without you changing policy at all. Lifetime Health Cover loading works in the opposite direction — 2% for every year over 30 that you went without hospital cover, capped at 70%, and removed after ten continuous years of cover.
Your state
Premiums are set state by state, and ambulance cover is the clearest example of why it matters. In Queensland and Tasmania ambulance is covered by the state government, so paying a fund for it is paying twice. In New South Wales, Victoria and elsewhere it is not.
Whether you already hold cover
Waiting periods you have already served transfer when you switch to an equivalent level of cover. People stay on policies they have outgrown because they believe the twelve-month pre-existing condition wait starts again. For an equivalent switch, it does not.
What you want covered
Hospital cover is the only kind that removes the Medicare Levy Surcharge, and only if the excess is no more than $750 for a single or $1,500 for a couple or family. An extras policy, however expensive, does nothing for your surcharge position.
